Following on from the debut of the official announcement trailer for Injustice 2, during E3 IGN have had exclusive access to the game and have released a video with 15 minutes of gameplay and a look at the new ‘Gear Loadout’ system that has been added to the sequel:
The fighting looks as though it follows right where the first game left off and just as Mortal Kombat X benefitted from the first Injustice, the sequel has clearly benefitted from the refinements made in MKX. The character models look amazing still, do like the nice selection screen banter animations where the two selected characters almost poke fun and each other with their powers.
The combos look fluid once again and the supermoves still have a high impact when used at the right time and are visually impressive. Seeing new characters to the roster Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd and Atroticus in action makes me want the game even more and their abilities have been well crafted into their gameplay. Stage transitions are back and just look superb once again.
The new gear loadout, hinted at in the CGI debut trailer as the armour each character activated, are items earned by fighting and can enhance attributes as well as give a cosmetic change to the characters which gives an opportunity to personalize them for players. As part of their E3 coverage, IGN conducted a live interview with Ed Boon from Netherealm Studios and takes a closer look at the gear system and combat changes for Injustice 2:
I am chumping at the bit to get my hands on Injustice 2, to continue the story mode as a DC Fan but also the large roster of heroes and villains to take online and go toe to toe with other players, game is already looking great and will only get better!
Injustice 2 is set for a 2017 release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
